Solarwatt UK & Ireland is seeking a dynamic Technical Manager to join our team. As the Technical Manager, you will play a pivotal role in building a proficient technical team and to build and represent our diverse comprehensive portfolio of sector-coupling products.

Solarwatt – the sector coupler, is integrating solar PV technologies with its market leading glass-glass panels, battery storage and (hybrid) inverter technologies, electro mobility and EV charging, heating solutions, and management systems to easily manage these solutions to seamlessly operate together in a building.

In this role, you will be responsible for guiding and integrating products into our portfolio, ensuring all products are fully compliant and the best-suited for the UK and Irish markets and its needs, and providing comprehensive training to both clients and colleagues.

Our ideal candidate will be a customer friendly, motivated, organised, and proactive Technical Manager, with a deep understanding of solar energy and storage system technologies and a proven track record in technical design, installations, training and troubleshooting across all technical PV support functions. You will build and lead our UK technical team in alignment with our technical teams in the Netherlands and Germany and  you will support your UK sales colleagues and our installation partners in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 

This is predominantly an office-based role, with some freedom to work from home if it contributes to higher effectivity and benefits the company goals. Our office is based on the wonderful Marina in Shepperton, Surrey

What will you be doing? 

The function includes at least the following 
  •  Provide expert technical support and guidance to customers on Solarwatt's comprehensive range of sector-coupling products, including solar technologies, battery storage systems, (hybrid) inverter technologies, electro mobility and EV charging solutions, heating solutions, and energy management systems.
  •  Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop and deliver technical training programs for customers and partners.
  • Actively participate in the selection and integration of products into Solarwatt's sector-coupling portfolio, ensuring compatibility, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards and regulations in the UK and Ireland.
  • Build and nurture a highly skilled technical support team.
  • Act as a technical liaison between Solarwatt and customers, addressing inquiries, troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Act as a technical liaison between Solarwatt UK and Solarwatt HQ in Dresden, Germany, addressing inquiries, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring Solarwatt UK get all the technical support from HQ.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements to ensure Solarwatt products remain at the forefront of innovation and compliance.
  • Contribute to the development of product documentation, technical manuals, and support resources to enhance the customer experience.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, presentations, and workshops to showcase Solarwatt's sector-coupling solutions and capabilities to potential customers and partners.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather customer feedback and insights, driving product enhancements and improvements.

What do we expect from you? 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
  • Proven experience in technical support/management, preferably in the field of PV and storage or similar in the renewables sector.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, PV technology, battery storage systems, (hybrid) inverter technologies, EV charging infrastructure, heating solutions and energy management systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a technical and concise manner.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Customer focused mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional service and support
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools and applications including PV sizing tools (PVSol, PV Syst), inverter and battery sizing tools, proposal tools e.g. OpenSolar.
  • Flexibility to travel within the UK & Ireland as needed.
  • You are in possession Driving Licence B;
