+++ 42% more usable storage capacity in virtually the same footprint
+++ Guaranteed high energy throughput of 22 MWh per battery pack
+++ Developed for sector coupling and applications such as Vehicle-to-Home

Dresden, 16 June 2026 – At The smarter E Europe trade fair (23–25 June 2026 in Munich), Solarwatt will unveil version 2.0 of the SOLARWATT Battery vision. Compared with the previous model, the home battery storage system from the solar company, which has been established in the market for more than 30 years, offers significantly more capacity while maintaining almost identical dimensions:

“In the first version of the SOLARWATT Battery vision, the usable capacity of a battery pack was 2.6 kilowatt-hours. It is now 4.3 kilowatt-hours. This means that, with almost the same dimensions and at lower prices, Solarwatt now offers 42% more usable capacity. This significantly improves the economic performance of the storage system,” says Peter Bachmann, Chief Product Officer at Solarwatt.

Developed for Sector Coupling and Applications Such as Vehicle-to-Home

The home battery storage system was developed as part of a comprehensive Solarwatt PV system and is designed to meet the requirements of the modern energy market. Its performance retention (SoH, State of Health) over the guaranteed service life of 12 years is based not only on the typical annual charging pattern of a PV system, but also on a much more dynamic charging and discharging profile involving a combination of PV generation, dynamic grid electricity purchasing, Vehicle-to-Home integration and future flexibility market participation.

Modular and Backwards-Compatible Design

Like its predecessor, the new SOLARWATT Battery vision 2.0 features a modular design. A system consists of two to six battery modules, each with a capacity of 4.3 kilowatt-hours, providing a usable storage capacity of between 8.6 and 25.9 kWh per battery tower.

A second battery tower with an additional 25.9 kWh can be operated on the same inverter, reducing hardware costs. For even larger applications, up to ten towers with a total capacity of 259 kWh can be combined.

Two Battery Towers on One Inverter

The new Solarwatt home battery can be flexibly adapted to different requirements when combined with the SOLARWATT Inverter vision. Thanks to the selected battery cells and high-voltage topology, the battery storage system and inverter are optimally matched, ensuring high efficiency across the entire system.

Since up to two battery towers can be connected to SOLARWATT Inverter vision max, over 50 kWh of storage capacity can be installed with just one inverter. The ability to mix and match Battery vision 1.0 towers with 2.0 towers on an Inverter vision max is also possible.

“Our customers can easily combine and supplement their existing Battery vision 1.0 with the new version 2.0. Existing installations can therefore be upgraded with minimal effort,” says Peter Bachmann.

Suitable for New and Existing PV Systems with Backup Power Capability

The combination of Battery vision and Inverter vision is particularly well suited to new installations, while also enabling existing PV systems to be integrated and upgraded with battery storage. Thanks to the plug-and-play concept, the components can be installed and commissioned quickly and easily.

The Solarwatt home battery also features a backup power function.

The distinctive design of the SOLARWATT Battery vision was created in collaboration with BMW subsidiary Designworks USA. Solarwatt also worked closely with BMW on the development and selection of system components.

Availability

The new Battery vision 2.0 is available for customers in the UK & Ireland later this year. According to the company, the previous version 1.0 will continue to be available.

SOLARWATT Manager Analyses and Controls the Energy System

Solarwatt offers homeowners and commercial businesses a complete sector-coupling package consisting of a solar installation, battery storage, EV charging solutions and a heat pump.

The SOLARWATT Manager analyses and optimises the entire system, ensuring that the highest possible proportion of low-cost solar energy is used within the home or business at all times. Through Solarwatt’s Home Energy Management System (HEMS), users can not only manage solar power but also optimise participation in energy markets and take advantage of dynamic electricity tariffs.
