Data Generated by the System
SOLARWATT Inverters, Batteries and Chargers generates data related to their performance, usage, and environment.
a) Type and Nature of Data:
The system is capable of generating the following categories of data:
- Energy Data like solar energy production (kW, kWh), battery charge/discharge levels (kWh, %), state of charge (%), home energy consumption from grid/solar/battery (kW, kWh)... for a recent list, see following tables.
- Performance Data like battery cell temperature (°C), system uptime, voltage and current readings... for a recent list, see following tables.
- Operational Data like system status (e.g., charging, discharging, standby), operational mode settings (e.g., self-consumption, time-of-use), and event logs (e.g., grid outages)... for a recent list, see following tables.
- Diagnostic Data like error codes and system fault reports... for a recent list, see following tables.
a.1) EMS and Monitoring Cloud Data
Cloud data which has no direct local representation is generated using other data. For example: The Production Date (dateOfProduction) is derived from the device's serial number.

b) Data Generation Frequency:
Most data is generated continuously and in near real-time to enable local control and optimisiation and is typically uploaded to the cloud every 1 to 5 minutes to enable system monitoring and remote maintenance.
c) Estimated Data Volume:
The estimated volume of data generated is approximately 200 MB per day.
d) Data paths
Please see Communication Scheme.
Use of Your Data
a) Intended Use by Manufacturer:
Solarwatt GmbH, as the data holder, may use the non-personal data generated by your system for the following purposes, based on the contractual agreement:
- (Main Purpose) Remote Diagnostics & Remote Maintenance: To identify and troubleshoot potential issues with customer's systems, even proactively.
- Product Improvement: To analyze performance across our fleet of devices to improve hardware and software for current and future products.
- Aggregated Analytics: To create anonymized, aggregated datasets for research on renewable energy grid integration, performance trends and product portfolio management.
Your personal data will not be used for any purpose without your explicit consent.
b) Sharing Data with Third Parties:
We will not share your data with any third party unless you explicitly instruct us to do so (see Section "Your Rights and Access to Data", part b)). The only exception is for legal or regulatory compliance purposes.
Your Rights and Access to Data
You have the right to access, share, and delete the data generated by your product.
a) How to Access Your Data:
You can access all your data at any time, free of charge[1]. Access is provided "by design" through the following methods:
- SOLARWATT Home app (mobile app): You can view and analyze your complete current data and data history in a comprehensive, mobile screen adapted format from your user account.
- SOLARWATT Manager portal (web app, only available with SOLARWATT Home plus subscription): You can view and analyze your complete current data and data history in a comprehensive format from your user account. You can download data history from the Analysis menu.
- You can request a data export via datenschutz@solarwatt.com - Solarwatt will provide you machine readable, structured .CSV-files containing historical data for all data points of assets stored inside the Monitoring & Configuration Cloud Server.
b) How to Share Your Data with a Third Party:
There is no integrated "Data Sharing" function available currently. To share data with a third party, please request a data export.
c) How to Delete Your Data:
You can request the deletion of the historical data associated with your account.
- To submit a request follow two steps:
- Delete your user account in the SOLARWATT Home apps User Settings (this will disassociate and delete the data stored on the Monitoring & Configuration Cloud Server)
- Send a deletion request to datenschutz@solarwatt.com to also delete and cut the connection on the Maintenance Cloud Server
- The deletion will be completed within 30 days. Please note that deleting your data will limit our ability to provide certain remote diagnostic services and have effect on your product warranty (please see your Warranty Conditions).
d) Data Retention Period:
- Data generated by your system is stored for the lifetime of the product to provide you with a complete historical overview, unless you request its deletion.
